I saw some Ponyo gifs on my dash and it reminded me of an argument I had with a friend about that movie.
She thinks Ponyo is cute. I think she is too, in animated form at least, but I contend that in real life Ponyo would look CREEPY AS SHIT! She thought that I’m weird to think Ponyo would look creepy, she thinks a real life Ponyo would still be adorable. But come on, you find some sea creature that looks like it has a tiny earless noseless misproportioned human head with a full head of hair, and it’s staring you in the eyes like it has human intelligence… I’m sorry I’m going to go “AGH! FUCK!” And throw the pail in surprise, because this is a weird ass creature that doesn’t look like it should exist. Once I’ve gained my composure I might walk up to it, keeping my distance of course, and gently prod it with a stick. I’d probably jump back if it made any sudden movements. Then I’d take some pictures and probably call animal control or the news or some sort of marine biologist… are marine biologists in the phonebook?
Point is, I think it would give me the willies. My friend disagrees and thinks I’m weird. I think she just doesn’t have a good enough imagination to picture how weird it would look in real life.
